Information from school

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 07 March 2010 This query is : Resolved
Respected Experts
I have to know the age of the son of the vendor at the time of registry of the land. He is educated up to 9Th std. His school is having the details of his admission in the admission register. But they (School administration) are not showing it to me. Can I ask this information from the school under RTI act 2005? What should I do? Plz. Suggest. My thanks to all.

Apply under RTI Act enclosing Rs. 10 postal order obtained from a post office.

You can ask for information under the RTI Act, 2005 only if the school is owned, controlled or substantially financed by Government. Only public authorities are obliged to provide information under the Act. If the school is privately owned having no connection with the Government then, the school authorities are not under any obligation to provide information under the RTI Act, 2005.

If the school is fully goverment then you can certainly get information under the Right to Information Act, 2005.

Yes. This information can be obtained even through Educational officers in case of urgency or through RTI within stipulated time.

If that is a Government school, then no problem for you. Can easily get the required information under RTI Act. If you are in Tamilnadu, you can very well ask the same by affixing a court fee for Rs.10/-
