Dear Sir,
My name is D.M.Merchant.
I have a civil writ petition appeal filed in mumbai high court.
My advocate says that he will have to appoint a Council in order to argue the matter in front of judge in high court.
I wish to know as to why can't my lawyer himself argue in high court since he is also a high court lawyer.
I also wish to know if appointing a Council is necessary or compulsory in high court or can my lawyer handle it himself.
Kindly guide me.
Thanking you,
D.M.Merchant.

It seems that your lawyer is not so competent to appear before the high court to effectively argue your case and that is why he is of the opinion to engage a senior lawyer for that purpose. I think this short reply is sufficient to understand all other issues.

Sir,
Not compulsory, no comments as to why he needs a senior lawyer to argue the matter.
Warm Regards

You may contemplate to replace and engage a senior counsel to defend your interest.

You can entrust your case with the senior lawyer and withdraw the case from present lawyer. IT seems he is not have full confidence.
