I want to gift some money by cheque to my earning son. Has there to be an occasion to give this gift? Can I not give this gift without any occasion? Please advise.

You can give gift to your son any time, no occasions need to be mentioned.

1. The criteria /occasion may be mentioned as "out of natural love & affection", for making a Gift to blood relations.
