Property

(Querist) 12 May 2012 This query is : Resolved
We are in possession of a residential property, the desired consideration of which has been paid by us at the time of purchase. The receipts for payments made by us is available with us. However, we could not get the ownership papers from the seller due to some reasons. We have the possession of the property since last 8 years. Since we have the possession of the residential property from about last 8 years, can this condition make us the real owners of the property as we are the only one who could claim the property. What are the documents that can be helpful or that can be prepared to make us the legal owners.

The reciept in itself is no title, even with 8 years possession, you need to get the sale documents executed in your favour - in fitness of things you should get documents executed - if the seller fails to co-operate - file a suit for specific performance. By the reciept you may suceed in protecting your possession but a person with a better title can oust you.

Consult a local advocate with receipts that you have.
