Hi,

When a group displays a protest against the government, what is the extent available to the state machinery to suppress the protest. Does all the police act without any justification if done in course of the duty come under the provisions of sovereign immunity??

you have to obtain permission from the police if you want to hold peaceful rally /protest in any ground . permission is granted subject to conditions .

if there is violations of terms and conditions cops can take action .

cops cannot use unjust force to quell the protests .

are there any statutes or any such documents limiting the extent of force applicable???
