Hindu succession Act, 2005 shall suprecede all previous acts and provisions on the subject.

So far as your personal case is concerned, you mother died in June 2005 so no benefit can be derived out of amended HSA 2005 which became applicable w.e.f. Nov 2005. Cause of action accrues immediately on death and not on the day of incorporation of death/inheritance in the revenue record.
