Dividing a property according to Hindu Law..

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 22 February 2011 This query is : Resolved
My Grandfather died in 1982 and grand mother in 2000. After my grandmother's death in 2001, my father and uncle divided land among themselves. Three sons got equal portion of land worth 6,00,000 at that time and three daughters were paid 40,000 as compensation. All three daughters agreed for this and we have their signatures. Now My aunt's SON is asking for his portion. Is this Valid?

My father was the eldest and got a portion of land where he constructed a house. Land was worth 6,00,000 at that time and now its worth around 15,00,000.

My all three aunts have taken compensation and signed. But my aunt son who was a minor at that time, is now claiming portion in our grandfather's property. Is this Legal?

Only signing on the paper does not bar the right of sisters to claim the share in the property. It should be either rights relinquish deed or transfer of property by regd., deed.
Here sisters are given up their share by taking an amount, which amounts it is for consideration so it amounts to sale, which is compulsorily registrable.

Thanks for that response Rajeev. But I was not able to understand it much.

Did you mean my aunt's can not claim anything in future?
