registration in Bar Council of India

Dear experts,
I have completed LL.B in the year 2001 from Nagpur University. After copmpletion i couldnot register myself in Bar Council of India as i was in Govt. service. Now iam appointed in contractual basis. I have also completed LL.M in the year 2005. Now my question is can i register myself in Bar Council of India?
Secondly, if i can do something in legal field so that i can abreast my legal knowledge.

If you are in contractual employment you can not register in the BCI.

you can only register if you wish to practice an an ADVOCATE only
