Regarding Bachelor Tenants

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 26 July 2010 This query is : Resolved
I have a flat in Pune and in one of the AGMs a bye law was passed were it mentioned that bachelors and students cannot be kept as tenants. Is the society right in doing so? If not under what rule can I take it up with the society. kindly let me know if there is any Supreme court or High court judgement in this regard.

Yes, Resolutions passed by Housing Socieities will bind the owners as the terms are only in the interest of the residents.

never....soceities or any association can never bar batchler tenants.
it is against Art. 14 of our constitution.
a lot of supreme court decisions can be found under the topic, Art 14 of the constitution of india.
