Society asking maintenance from tenants instead of landlord.

Hi Experts,
Tenants are staying in flat since 2008. Landlord mortgaged the flat in 2009 which got NPA in 2010 . Landlord is absconding since 2010. Now the society is asking maintenance from tenants .
OC is still pending

Case is already running is many courts.
Is it justify.........?

Please check your lease agreement. in case it is agreed that landlord should pay maintenance, he should pay. now that he has absconded, to avoid trouble you may agree to pay the maintenance and adjust it towards rent payable to the land lord.
