during lifetime of mother no claims can be made of her self acquired property

if mother n law has expired and bequeathed property to her surviving son the widow daughter in law and her son have no claim on self acquired property of mother

Sethiji and Shoneeji,
The child has a right of a share in the grandmother's property. The querist has not mentioned that the property was self acquired by the motherinlaw. Now as she has already received some amount as consideration in liew of her intended share, the surviving son has to obtain a registered affidavit or NOC from the widow,to avoid any future legal hurdles.
