Does mira road comes under mumbai?

(Querist) 05 May 2025 This query is : Resolved
If in the bail order copy the Hon. Judge places a condition for the accused to take prior permission before leaving Mumbai then if he starts living in Mira Road, Thane, does that come under Mumbai or has he committed contempt of Court?
kavksatyanarayana (Expert) 07 May 2025
He must follow the court orders, and if not, get ready for the punishment given by the court.

If the condition to grant him bail states that he should not leave Mumbai, then it naturally attracts breach of bail condition becasue Mira road do not come under Mumbai, hence there are chances of cancellation of baiul.

The issue here is in the bail order only "Mumbai" is mentioned and not Mumbai City or district or municipality, etc. The accused was earlier residing in Santacruz which comes under Mumbai hence Hon. Judge had ordered that before leaving Mumbai accused must take Court's prior permission. But now the accused shifted to Mira Road which comes under Thane district but is a part of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) an area denoted by government for development purposes. So can he still be considered that he has technically not left Mumbai and is still in Mumbai for permission purpose and hence not in contempt of Court?

You can always justify your actions by interpreting the law to your convenience but in the event of any problem then the bail may be liable to be cancelled for breach of conditions imposed therein for grant of bail, hence you may better be aware of that.

It is in your own interest to get the order/conditions modified.
