Does a trespasser retain ownership of movable property after abandoning possession?

(Querist) 26 June 2012 This query is : Resolved
A trespasser forcibly occupied a property belonging to his relative, with whom he was not on good terms. He had no agreement or documents to justify possession.
He went out of station for a while, thereby giving up his illegal possession temporarily.
When he came back, he found the owner had taken back possession, sold the property and vacated it, removing all his movables.
Does he have any right to claim recovery of possession of the movables he had left behind?
what is the legal status of the ownership of these movables?

Hmmm,

It would depend upon how he had justified his possession.

You can not be accused of stealing from a thief.
