(Querist) 15 January 2020 This query is : Resolved
Dear Sir,
What is the procedure for opening an Accounting Institute (to teach full accounting with GST & other taxation), and where we can issue a certificate? The institute will be owned by only one person (Proprietor).
Thanks in Advance.

You don’t need to register your sole proprietorship in India. But to receive payments in the name of the business, you have to need to open a current account in a bank. , you will need proof of the existence of the firm you have to file the documents (1) Pan card of the owner (2) address proof of the business (3) certificate under Shops and establishment Act, vat/GST registration certificate and (4) a certificate from a CA.

you are right in your understanding of registration under shop and establishment act.

Registration under Shops and Commercial Establishment Act shall suffice.
Dr J C Vashista (Expert) 17 January 2020
Besides registration with Shops and establishment Act, you are required to be registered for GST.
Consult a local prudent lawyer or chartered accountant for better appreciation of facts/documents, professional advise and proceeding.

There is no government registration needed in order to start a sole proprietorship business in India. You don’t have to go to an online registration portal and fill up a form or submit any documents. However, you do need to open a current account with a bank in the name of the business.
You don’t need to register your sole proprietorship in India. But in order to receive payments in the name of the business, you need to open a current account in a bank. For this, you will need proof of existence of the firm, and the address proof. Documents needed include:

1. Pan card and ID for address proof of proprietor.

2. Business address proof (eg: electricity bill in your name, or electricity bill + registered rental agreement, etc.)

3. Two government registration documents confirming name and address of business (shop establishment license, service tax registration, VAT/CST, etc.)

4. CA Certificate – You can get this from any CA. They might charge you a nominal fee for giving you a certificate.
