dear queryking its a basic law, u need not to quote citations in this context.

only the documents which have been proved on record can be read into evidence, the ones which have been marked can not be relied upon.

Every basic law has also been defined by different courts from time to time and as parkash opined, the matter has well been taken up in madra High Court in a similar case.
