amenment of pleadings in Criminal case

(Querist) 27 April 2008 This query is : Resolved
In a criminal case,(ie) in a private complaint under section 138 of Negotible instruments act,
after letting the witness in the case whether amendment is possible to amend the main pleadings..?
Is there any specific provision for Amendment,of pleadings in Cr.P.C ... ?

There is no pleading in criminal cases, it is complaints. Any attempt to amend the earlier complainant will result into improvement in the story- gives benefit of doubt to the accused and makes the prosecution witnesses less reliable.
However, if any new document or witness has come to light, the evidence can be produced in the court with permission.

No provision in Cr.P.C.
