Affidevit for change of name in official records

Sir,

I have to submit an affidevit to UTI mutual fund for change of name of my child.

UTI officials are not accepting the affidevit by saying that it MUST be printed on NON JUDICIAL STAMP PAPER only and is invalid if Court fee stamps have been afixed on the printed affidevit (given by UTI officials for the purpose)for requisite value of Rs20/- and verified by notary public.

Kindly advise if their contention is valid?

affidavit is sworn statement so there is no wrong to demand an affidvit.

Each banks have their own requirements. I don't think that there is anything wrong what the bank wants. All affidavits have to be verified by a notary.

Yes, the contention of UTI is valid. Such declarations are not only required to be sworn by affidavit but also to be advertised in local newspapers of mass circulation.

Affidavit on Rs.20 NJS paper, attested by Notary as required by the bank is correct

Bank is correct as affidavits are executed and notarized only on non judicial papers and not on court fee stamps. The purpose of both judicial and non judicial stamp is different.
