Article 1 of the Constitution herald that India that is Bharat, shall be a union of STATES. What is the real meaning of Union of States.

It means that union is not a federation made out of contract among states. It means that union is indestructible.

Our country is formed due to union of many small kingdoms(more than 1500)... States at the time of Independence. But all under a roof called Bharat - India

Can any state be admitted into the Union of India through an agreement by executing an agreement like a contract?

Art.1 of the Constitution declares that the sovereign democratic Republic of India `shall be the Union of States'.Dr.Ambedkar explained the purpose of the word `Union',though India was to be a fedaration,the fedaration was not the result of an agreement by the States to join in a Fedaration and no State has the right to secede from it.
