Regarding Societies Registration Act

(Querist) 21 April 2011 This query is : Resolved
Sir,

I will be highly obliged if you kindly clarify the following doubts of mine in the purview of The West Bengal Societies Registration Act 1961 –

Can any Governing body member &/or Office Bearer serve two societies (working on same subjects) simultaneously in the same capacity? Say, as Secretary or Treasurer.

Thanking you

Sincerely yours

There is absolutely no bar, one can serve in as many societies as possible, so long as there is no inter-se conflict of interests.

Dear Author,

It appears to me that some thing wrong is going on.It is because of the fact that both the societies are functioning on the same subject matter. Needs some examination of the intension of the member. Lawfully it is OK, then question arises why he is operating at two places. What is the procedure of funding?Did the society made any boundry of operation or both the society is working within the same geographical area.
