My grandfather has deceased. They had a locker in SBI, I'm the nominee of the locker but they forgot to make me nominee of the fd associated with locker. Bank is saying all the successor have to present in the bank to sign the no obligation form. Is it possible if I only close the locker carry out my grandfather's belongings without closing the fd.
If your grandfather has passed away and you are the nominee for his SBI locker, you can access and remove his belongings. However, you cannot claim the Fixed Deposit (FD) associated with the locker without the consent of all legal heirs. The bank requires all successors to sign a no-objection form. To claim the FD amount, you may need to obtain a succession certificate from the court.

Yes, you can remove belongings from locker being nominee and surrender locker to bank but cannot get the sum of amount of FD without getting no objection or disclaim letter from lrs of your grandfather.

The Bank is right, you can take belonging kept in the locker but not entitled for the amount of FD left behind by deceased. Obtain succession certificate from jurisdictional court for the amount of FDs through a prudent local lawyer.
