There is no limitation. It requires FIR's copy.
Raj Kumar Makkad (Expert) 04 May 2010
FIR is must without which no compensation petition lies. There is no limitation to file the petition but the interest is awarded only from the day of filing the petition so it should be filed as earliest as possible.
Parveen Kr. Aggarwal (Expert) 04 May 2010
Copy of FIR is not at all required at the time of filing a claim petition under the Motor Vehicles Act. If FIR is registered, it can be produced during evidence of the petitioner.

No limitation period is prescribed for filing such a claim petition.

generally, FIR, WOUND- CERTIFICATE (POST MAURTUM REPORT ),SCENE MAHASSAR etc are required.
but you can file at trial stage also, with a document receiving petition also.
previously, there was limtation period for MACT CASES . but, now, there is no limitation. it can be filed even after a long time also.
