Mental Disability

Respected sir, An educated adult person 'A' is suffering from Bipolar spectrum disorder a kind of mental disease, which comes under mental disability. He is jobless and can't take care of himself needs constant care. His parent wish to sell some property, and fix the amount in his('A') name, so that he('A') can manage/lead his life comfortably with the interest of the fixed deposit. Since he can not manage the property. As these persons are vulnerable of various types of cheating. What is the maximum limit of amount that can be deposited? What are the various provisions in laws which protects such persons and their property? Can anyone disposes/occupy his property? Will he get any benefit in Income tax? What are the other benefits that he can get? Thanks.

---- There is no such prescribed limit in any law. You can deposit any amount as you can.

What are the various provisions in laws which protects such persons and their property?
----I am sorry to say that there is no provision in any law which protest such persons and therir property. The legal guardians are the responsible persons to look after or to take care of these persons.

Can anyone disposes his property?
---- Legal guardians.

Will he get any benefit in Income tax?
---- Yet he is entitle to income tax benefit i.e. Deduction u/s 80U from Gross Total Income for Rs.50000/-.

What are the other benefits that he can get?
---- Being a mentally handicap person he is eligible to get free concession to journey with escort in rail, bus subject to conditions.

Thanks for your elaborate answer. What if his parents dies and nobody is ready to become his legal guardian. As it is established fact that, after parents nobody wants to take pain of other, without any gain. Anyway, Thanks a lot.
