I am a post graduate in Biotechnology having post graduate diploma in IPR. Please let me know when the next Patent Agent exam would be conducted, how to prepare it and what its scope is?

Usually the exams are conducted twice a year. Please check with www.ipindia.nic.in , once in a while.

Recently, patent agent exams result were announced last week. Department of Industrial Promotion under Ministry of Industry and Commerce conducts exam twice in a year. Patents Act, 1970 prescribes basic qualification for a patent agent. In the market you can avail text book for examinations. Examination is based on your science knowledge and legal aspect involved in the patent. Legal aspects is more on assignments, licenses, transfer etc and forms thereto. Once if you prepare for 6 months, you can through the exam.
