i belong to amritsar. ihave filed ejectment petition ag. tenant on ground of non payment of rent. tenant has executed rent agreement for 11 months which interse contain clause of amt. of rent to be paid. befor commiting default he was paying monthly rent by cheque as per terms of agreement.is it not sufficient to prove in court the amt.of rent as well date from which arrears are due from him.pl. also advise what is standard rent whics tenants advocate normally pleads for.

Standard rent is fixed on various factors, like the cost of construction, age of construction, cost of major repairs and reconstructions (except normal annual repairs & maintenancecosts), rates of interest on capital invested at the time of construction, etc.
However, rent being paid by cheque, wilful defaults, and breach of agreement can help you in your case.
