Delay of recording statement of witness

if their is a delay of 8 days in recording statement of a witness by police under 162 in criminal case and he is a eye witness ,then does the court gave any importance to the witness statement in the court if the same statement is made before the court as that in 162 statement.

This is minor delay. Evidence will be evaluated in the light of nature of offence and entire facts and circumstances.

Court will accept the statement at its face value if the delay is properly explained. If the witness is available and the police makes delay, then the statement may not be accepted.
