Whether agricultural land gifted by Maharashtra State Govt and currently bearing Bhogwata no-2 (this terminology is in Marathi), can be purchased by and transferred in the name of a person belonging to Scheduled Caste community? It is understood that SC can purchase such agricultural land but exact provisions are not known to me. Can any one guide me in this regard>

1. Agricultural Land, gifted by Govt., is given on "Right to Use" BUT the title-ownership shall always vest with the Govt. Hence such land CANNOT be sold or purchased, by anybody.
2. However, special permissions can be taken, on various conditions and considerations, from the local Collectors office, after paying relevant fees /fines / penalities /nazrana, for Sale-Purchase of such land.
3. Subsequent to point no. 2 (above), the aforesaid land shall become "free-hold" land, and can be sold-purchased, by any category of agriculturist persons, without reference to the Govt.
