Stamp duty payable for cancellation of defective partition deed/gift deed (among the family members)

Dear Experts,

Is it mandatory to pay the stamp duty on fair value of the property at the time of cancellation of a "defective Deed" for making a correct Deed between the members of the family.

These transactions won't be a Sale transaction. Only cancelling the previously registered Partition Deed & Gift ('defective documents') for correction(rectification) and making a new/fresh Deed with the consent of all the members involved.
