We proposed to buy a residential property in andheri- mumbai. The seller is residing since beginning and had entered into an agreement on 19/7/1980. Under abhay yojana-amnesty scheme of 2008, he had recd. a letter- in marathi- is not very clear as far as the stamp duty payable is concerned. different interpretations are being done.
request to reply the exact requirement asap to enable us to proceed ahead.

in 1980, there was no sd payable, nor regn compulsory.
after all u need local advocate who will complete all formalities.
you as a buyer have to pay sd & regn it now.

thanks sir, but what about the regularization of their documents. the seller has to pay the stamp duty ( at present rate) on the 1981 doc., in absence of any further clarification and get it registered then only can i enter into new agreement in the present date and pay the duty and get it registered.
this is my understanding, pl. correct me if i am wrong.
