Land marked as cancelled by dm

2 acre Land in Faridabad distt. was purchased by my father in my name. We have registry and dakhil- kharij receipts
Due to his transfer he could visit the land in 2000. Since then we could not visit the land.
In Jan 2012 we approached area patwari to show us the land and provide the status by fard/khatauni... He told that due to frauds in land sale in the area DM had ordered some inquiry which is still underway.. His book show 'Cancelled' scibled across our khatauni page without any mention of any date or Official Stamp. He says now the land does not belong to us and has been cancelled by the DM and thus refused to take us anywhere.
Kindly help - How can we know the actual status and claim our legally purched land.
