dear sir,i have a query in a hospital related deathcase.mother was admitted and delivered a girlchild and the child died after sixhours.it has been diagnosed as sudden death infant syndrome.now what is the role of a doctor.1.wheather postmortem is ti be done or not, 2.is there any requirement of initiating mlc.3.is there any requirement to take clearence from police.

you did not mentioned that why do you have apprehension of legal proceedings?
If there has been lodged a report against the doctor pertaining to medico negligency then you need to follow what you mentioned here. But it is a course of Police not of a doctor accused. However if FIR lodged then such Doctor may request to the police for inquiry to reveal the cause of death.
