Hi,
I have been facing a problem with my neighbours lately who have threatened to beat me up or kill me. My question is, can I carry a knife in my pocket for self defence ? I prefer a spring actuated/button operated knife. Is it legal to carry one? If no what kind of knife can I carry that fits into my pocket. Also, what is the restriction on the length of the knife blade? Do I need a license for carrying a knife? If yes, how do I get one made?
Thanks in advance,
Rahul

Before giving answer to your query please answer the following:
If your neighbours have threatened you, did you first lodge any Police Complaint? If not why Not?

The question arises, whether you have tried to take the help of law by reporting the matter to the police or not, if yes, what is the response of the police and if not why not?

Hi,
Thanks for your response. Yes i had called the police, they sorted-out the matter but no case was registered.
Actually the issue was that they had falsely accused our pet labrador of biting their daughter, which was actually not the case. They dont like dogs and just created an issue to fight with us. They came to our house, abused and threatened us, and maybe even hurt us if we had opened the door.
We called the police, but they convinced the policeman that our dog had bitten their child. The policeman took their side and told me to apologize, else he would register a case against me and lock me up. I had to apolpogize, and they had the last laugh. Also they again threatened me with dire consequences in front of the policeman and he didn't say anything.
Thats wahy i dont have much faith left in police and want to carry a knife for self defence. It can be usefull for other circumstances to scare-off attackers, robbers etc. Please advice.
