sir my name is srikanth,and i'm in search of a job.a guy by the name rishikesh reddy approched me and said that he wil show job for me for some money.he gave me the offer letter of a top mnc and i deposited money into his account.later i came to know that the offer letter is fake.when asked about it he gave me an post dated cheque.few days back his news came in the newspaper as mastermind cheaters.i immediately went into the bank and lodged the cheque.i was shocked to hear from the bank authorities that the sign ont he cheque didnot match with the original one.i dont know whether i can file an fir regarding the cheque????http://expressbuzz.com/cities/hyderabad/uk-mba-graduate-among-four-held-for-job-fraud/176956.html

ofcourse yes, you have filed complaint against that person u/sec. 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881. It is a serious criminal offence.

You are advised to file a cheating complaint with the police. It is a serious offence. But that offence does not fall under Negotiable Instruments Act. It falls under Indian Penal Code Section 420.
