Family law is an area of law dealing with family relations including divorce, adoption, custody and support.

We in India have decided to follow civil laws relating to matters such as marriage,succession etc. according to laws based on religious diktats. Thus, Hindus are guided by the Hindu Marriage Act, Hindu Succession Act etc. which does not apply to any other religious denomination.
Similarly,Muslims & Christians have their laws which are different from the Hindus as well from each other.
