Accident

Querist : Anonymous (Querist) 28 February 2011 This query is : Resolved
A two wheeler which was purchased in my name by the Director of the company was subsequently sold to another person. The two wheeler was involved in an accident, the victim was pedestrian. The driver has given false name and address to the police. The Insurance is in the name of another person. The driver did not have DL. The victim has claimed Rs10 lakhs as compensation. Will the court order me to pay the sum? Is there any way I can avoid this? I am unemployed and do not have money to pay.

Please verify that the vehicle is properly transferred. Whether the intimation of transfer of vehicle is given to R.T.O. and insurance company? Whos name is appearing on R.C. Book of vehicle ? If it is your name there, then it is difficult to avoid responsibility of compensation. Your case is quit week on merit.

After doing all the efforts, try to compromise the case out of Court.
