Domicile Certificate

HI,

My brother is studying in engineering college in Mumbai
And the college have demanded for a domicile certificate
we have been staying in Borivali,Mumbai for more than 20 years
How can i get a domicile certficate ?
What is the procedure to get such certificate?

Domicile certificate will be issued by the Tahasildar of the concerned Taluka, for that you will have to file an application before him.

Yes. You have to make an application to the concerned tahsildar having jurisdiction over your area and take the domicile certificate.

Domicile certificate is usually given by the local Municipal Councillor, failing which the Tehsildar.

There is prescribed procedure for grant of Domicile Certificate. The same is issued by the District Magistrate after due verification from revenue authority. You have apply to District Magistrate, who will order for report to concerned Tehsildar, he will order for inquiry and report to concerned Lekhpal, who will make inquiry and submit his report to Tehsildar. The tehsildar will make his report on the basis of Lekhpal report, this will go to the District Magistrate Office, who will issue domicile certificate on the basis of reports received.
