Industrial disputes Act, 1947 is not applicable to teachers.

Minimum wages under Minimum Wages Act for teaching staff cannot be fixed since the teachers are not workmen under the Industrial Disputes Act.

For applicability of I.D. Act on teacher as well as on educational institution you must go through the land mark judgment of constitutional Bench of Apex Court Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board Versus A.Rajjappa & others. Your conception on this point will be clear and you will get all the relevant citation on this subject. Moreover I am attaching some citations,I think, the same will be helpful to you. But fundamentally It is settled position of law that non teaching staff of an educational institution is workman under the and teachers are not.
