Is it essential to record the statement of accused in a criminal case by police or not?And if suppose police did not record the statement of accused, what it constitutes then?Though statement of accused to police is non-admittable in the court unless u/s 27 of Evidence act

Inspite of provision of section 27 of evidence act, poice should record statement of accused otherwise it could be a dent on investigation.
