I am central Govt. employee having GPF account. The interest on the balance to the credit is credited to the account every year. i.e a simple interest on yearly basis is paid as per CCS rules. But I find EPF interest is credit on the balance available every month. i.e the interest is compounded monthly. Why this desparity. Can this be legally challenged.

You can escalate this issue through proper channel for remedy. In case of non-receipt/unfavourable reply, you can seek 'writ remedy' at High Court.

Schemes governing GPF and EPF are different and it needs to be taken up at higher level to erase the discrepancy.
