what is the difference between code and act?
Guest (Expert) 28 May 2011
Code is for the procedure to be followed for the trial of the cases and act describes for the specific crimes which are done in various ways

I think the same query was put a few days back and it has been replied. However to repeat, I may state that a Code provides exhaustive provision on a subject may it be procedure or otherwise. It is a special enactment governing a particular area of law. e.g. Maharashtra Land Revenue Code. It deals exahustively with matters relating to land revenue and maintenance of land records. Generally one is not required to take help of other laws in the matter of land revenue. So also Bombay Public Trust Act is supposed to a code governing the Trust matters.
