Is gifted property considerd as ancestral property

My grand father gifted some immovable properties to my father. Kindly tell me whether this property is considered as an ancestral property for me. I am a Hindu hailing from Tamilnadu.

Yes. This property will be considered as an ancestral property for U. Excepting hindus governed by the Dayabhaga school of Hindu law (Bengal school), the rest of India follow the Mitakshara school of Hindu law with local variations permitted by customs.
Under Mitakshara school,a male child gets a share in the ancestral property at birth. However, now the SC is going in favour of share in the ancestral property for girls.
