what if one do not pay the pagdi amount to the owner? what are the actions that the owner will take? my mother in law has a house in mumbai, which is a pagdi system house. She has rented it since last 3 years, now the owner want the pagdi amout to increase. in such a case what will happen if my mother in law do not pay the pagdi amount to the owner?

you are talking about rentals . pagdi is the consideration paid to owner for taking the premises on rent . landlord wants the rental amount to increase . please check whether your mother in law has signed any agreement with the owner of the flat .
