Floor area ratio

Could you please someone explain me how to calculate the floor area ratio? As per my understanding, it is Total covered area of all floors/ plot area. What is this total covered area of all floors- Carpet area or super buildup area?

What is the current FAR standard for a residential property in Bangalore?

The FAR is decided based on the width of the road in which the building is built up. Normaly it will range between 1 to 2.5 times of the ground area.
