There will not be any problem and there is no legal remedy to revert / change.

ACADEMICALLY:
1. A student is entitled to pursue one PG course via CORRESPONDENCE and one PG course by REGULAR college, for ANY & ALL purposes.

2. The above is perfectly legal and does not violate any law or override any of his qualifications. You may apply to UGC, for clarifications and confirmation.

Keep Smiling .... Hemant Agarwal

There was recommendations from panel in 2012, but were not supported by universities, hence proposal was dropped. Please go through the following news item:

The 2012 UGC committee headed by then Vice Chancellor of Hyderabad University, Furqan Qamar, had recommended that a student enrolled in a degree programme under regular mode may be allowed to pursue a maximum of one additional degree programme simultaneously under open or distance mode from the same or a different university.

"However, two degree programmes under regular mode may not be allowed simultaneously as it may create logistic, administrative and academic problems. A student pursuing a degree programme under regular mode may be allowed to pursue a maximum of one certificate, diploma, advanced diploma, PG diploma programme simultaneously either in regular or open and distance mode in the same university or from other institutions," the panel report had said.
According to UGC officials, "the commission had then sought comments of the statutory councils on the committee's report and the responses received did not endorse the idea of allowing students to pursue multiple degree programmes simultaneously. Hence the plan did not take off".

According to Indian education act-1959 you can not pursue two degrees simultaneously, because it causes extra burden on students(according to law makers). But after the recommendation of few universities UGC has now granted the permission for students to get enrolled in two degrees(in same or different universities).

in 2013, UGC had finally given thumbs up for proposal to allow students to take up two degree programmes which was recommended in 2012 by an expert committee that students enrolled in a regular degree course should be allowed to pursue an additional degree simultaneously under open or distance education mode.

In order to promote distance education in India, the Distance Education Council (DEC) students can now be enrolled in the two degree prgrammes simultaneously. According to DEC, students can pursue two degrees through a combination of distance and regular modes, however, two-degree programme pursued through regular modes is not valid.

Two Degree are allowed but not in regular mode. However, One Regular with one Distance mode, Two diplomas, two certificates, one degree one certificate, are allowed”. Some universities have implemented this rules but with some modifications and limitations such as student can go for distant/open courses along with a regular course or it should be from another university. These limitations are on the university level, so it is advised that you may contact directly to university officials in which you are perusing regular course or along with the one in which you are interested in taking another course. No Indian university will not have any problem with this because it’s not illegal anymore. With this, Thus, you can show both certificates during government and private sector job interview or in recruitment form.

UGC has not allowed dual degree as per recommendations of 2012 panel, it was not supported by the Universities. Again in 2019 another panel is formed to look after the issue and submit its recommendations.

News item Jul 21, 2019,

The UGC has set up a panel headed by its Vice Chairman Bhushan Patwardhan to examine the issue of pursuing two degree programmes simultaneously from the same university or different universities either through distance mode, online mode or part time mode.

However, this is not the first time the commission is examining the issue. The UGC had set up a committee in 2012 as well and consultations were held on the same but ultimately the idea was junked.
