Court Marriage Information

The Wedding is against the bride's family members and hence the boy and girl are undergoing Court Marriage. I will be signing as the witness, as I am a close friend of Boy. After marriage the couple has decided to visit to Police Station and file a NC to avoid any treats from the Girls family members. Do the witnesses has to be present at the Police Station for this. Is this procedure right. Can I get an opinion?
