Conversion of a Society into a Section 25 company

To the Experts

Can a society registered under the Societies Registration Act be converted into a Section 25 Company. If so what is the best procedure to do so? Is prior permission required from authorities like the IT Dept, Ministry of Home Affairs (FCRA division)? What is the role of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act, 2010 in the same?
