Arrest Warrant for check bouncing

One of my friend recieved an arrest warrant from police station regarding bouncing of checks under section 138. The police constable was not able to meet my friend and hence my friend has more time to think.
Pls advise..what should he do.

Hire a lawyer and visit respective police station as soon as possible, then can file petition to recall warrant.
