Action on neighbouring housing soc

(Querist) 17 April 2023 This query is : Resolved
How to take action on a neighbouring CHS which repeatedly plays loud DJ at any time of day and even after 10:00 pm uptill 12:00 am midnight that to on multiple events (Weddings, Functions, Celebrations)
Quick Summary
If a neighbouring housing society is repeatedly causing disturbances with loud DJ music, even late at night, there are several avenues for action. You can report the issue to the society itself, and if that fails, escalate it to the Joint Registrar or Registrar of Co-operative Housing Societies. Alternatively, you can approach the local police or civic body regarding civil nuisance, as there are legal limits to noise levels, especially after 10 pm.

If the neighbors do not accede to the request and continue to disturb by such nuisances, you are entitled to give a complaint to either the local police or local civic body for taking proper legal action for this civil nuisance.
The Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) permits a maximum noise level in residential areas of 55dB(A) between 6am and 10pm. This threshold falls to 45dB(A) from 10pm till 6am. Db(A), or a weighted decibel, is a measure of how loud something sounds to the human ear
Police have invoked a 2005 Supreme Court order which puts a blanket ban on playing of loud music in open places after 10 pm. Playing music in open places is a cognizable offence under Karnataka Pollution Control Act and Police Act.
