Professional tax

Dear Sir,
A society is registered under societies act and its registered office in New Delhi
where professional tax act is not applicable, however its operation is spread through out India and its payroll processing is done in karntaka(head office). whether the society has to deduct Professional Tax from salary given to employee employed outside Delhi.
As like company, whether society has to paid professional tax.

IN MAHARASHTRA:
1. A Society (any type) is liable to pay Professional Tax (@ 750/- PA) and deduct Professional Tax (@ 2500/- PA) from its employees, u/s 3 (schedule - I, entry no.16)
2. State laws are mandatorily applicable, to all Societies registered outside Maharashtra, IF such societies conducts full / part of its operations in the State of Maharashtra.

You are required to deduct professional tax and deposit in time in state exchequer as the same is applicable in Karnatka and many other States.
