Hello sir/mam, I am 9 weeks 2 days pregnant. My office is 50 km away from my residence so due to pregnancy it becomes very difficult for me to travel 100 kms up and down daily by public transport. Can I take maternity leaves now or leave without pay at this time. I am working in a private engineering college under AKTU, Lucknow.
A pregnant employee, 9 weeks along, is finding her 100km daily commute by public transport extremely difficult. She works at a private engineering college affiliated with AKTU, Lucknow. While she is entitled to 180 days of maternity leave, this typically begins 8 weeks before the expected delivery date. She is advised to explore taking medical leave if available and credited to her account as an alternative for her current situation.

In such circumstances you should apply and avail medical leave, if it is applicable and available/credit in your account.
