is it necesssary to take a pan no for a private clinic if it is registered
Vineet (Expert) 12 November 2009
Every person (As defined in Income Tax Act), who has taxable income, or required by law to file return of income should apply and obtain PAN.

From your querry it is not clear what is the status of owner of Private Clinic. Please provide complete details.

PAN no is not a pre-requisite for starting a private clinic. You say your clinic is already regitered. If you have taxable income, you have to file income tax returns, for which obtaining a Permanent Assessment Number (PAN) is necessary.

GVS has rightly defined the legal position in such matters.

PAN is required :-

(a)If your total income exceeds Rs.150000/- OR
(b)If your turnover/gross receipts exceeds Rs.500000/- during the FY.

PAN is nothing but a identification of assesee for the purpose of Income Tax matter.
